Project Creation Scrips
These scripts are designed to keep things organzied, especially for larger more complicated projects. Even with a small freelance job, I usually start with this structure, then at the end, I delete all directories that are empty.
Master Project Structure
1. Inside AE, launch the MoCon palette by selecting File > Scripts, then the MoCon file, and select the "Master Project" button
2. This pulls up a dialog for you to name your master project. At my work, we keep projects limited to 3 letters, but this is up to you...
3. Click OK and select where you'd like your master project directory to be built.
4. Click choose OK, and then you'll get dialog saying it was successful.
5. Your master project structure looks like this.
In this case, the master project was called "3dm". The shot project structures would be made after this. Continue on...
Shot Project Structure
1. Pull up the MoCon palette in AE by going to File > Scripts and choosing the MoCon script.
2. Choose the "Shot Project" button.
3. This will pull up a dialog to name your shot project.
If you are using a master project structure, but that in the first text field, and in the second put in your shot name and check the "include Shot Name". If you are not using a master project structure, put your shot name in the first text field and leave the rest blank.
Then, click, "Continue Create".
4. From here, a palette will come up and request you to choose the directory to save your shot project structure. If this is in use with a master project structure, you should save the directory under the "project files" directory within your master structure.
5. Click OK, and the structure will be created. A success message will be given.
6. If you are using a master project structure, drag the output for the shot into the output folder for the overal master project. There is still an alias for the output that will link to it.
7. The shot project structure looks like this...
AEP is for After Effects
AI is for Adobe Illustrator
Curves are for your Curves
EIP is for Electric Image
FAC is for FACT model files
FMZ is for FormZ projects
MB is for Maya projects. Inside the MB directory is a workspace.mel file that links Maya projects to this structore when you "Set Project" to this directory. Included is a script that does that with one click, you just have to save your project to this directory then enable the setProj.mel file.
OBJ is for obj model files.
PSD is for Photoshop files
SNI is for SynthEyes files
ZBR is for ZBrush files.
The rest is self explanatory.
